Fasolada is one of the most classic and nutritious dishes in Greek cuisine. This hearty bean stew is a staple in the diet of Ikaria, one of the famous Blue Zones - and for good reason. The islanders are known for their exceptional longevity and health, and beans play a crucial role in this.
Ingredients:
500g pre-cooked beans
2 carrots
3 medium potatoes
1 stalk of celery
100ml tomato puree
2 onions
1 clove of garlic
100 ml olive oil
Salt, pepper, oregano, red paprika and a little turmeric
Enclosure:
feta cheese
pickled olives
Fasolada is more than just a bean stew - it's a piece of Greek history, a symbol of healthy eating and a true superfood for longevity. If you crave a simple but delicious meal that nourishes body and soul, you should definitely try a bowl of fasolada!
There's a little surprise in our recipe: turmeric! A spice that is not typically Greek - but has a special meaning for us. Niko learned to love this spice during his travels to Nepal. Turmeric is a powerful natural remedy with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and digestive properties that strengthens the immune system, supports brain function and detoxifies the liver. In combination with our valuable olive oil, turmeric is particularly well absorbed by the body. Perfect for a healthy diet!
Enjoy your meal!
